About Science AL!VE
Science AL!VE is a not-for-profit, STEM education program based at Simon Fraser University. Our mandate is to encourage, inspire and expose youth of all backgrounds to the many fields of science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on and interactive activities. Science AL!VE reaches over 15,000 youth annually across all our programs and is a proud member of Actua; a national affiliation linking over 30 programs across Canada.
About the Position
-Summer Instructors work full time (40 hours/week) from April 29th – August 27th 2019
-Note there are a few positions available that are full time (40 hours/week) from June 28th – August 27th 2019. If you are interested in this please indicate so in your cover letter.
-Pay is $14.25/hour with a potential for increase depending on funding availability
-May/June: visit schools with our engaging classroom workshops
-July/August: develop innovative and hands-on camp curriculum and teach summer camps
-Opportunities for outreach to Indigenous communities in Northern BC and Haida Gwaii
-Develop teaching and leadership skills
-Inspiring future generations of STEM enthusiasts
-Positions are available with focuses on the following: digital skills and coding, engineering, working with all-girls, local and rural outreach
Mandatory Qualifications (required or willing to obtain prior to start date)
-Undergraduate students preferred
-Valid first aid certification at a minimum level of Standard First Aid (CPR-C and AED)
-Completed Criminal Record Check for the vulnerable sector

-Public speaking and presentation skills

-Shows dedication and reliability
-Organizational skills
-Class 5 license and access to a vehicle is an asset
