AnnouncementsClass Format and Synchronicity
- My goal is to make the class as interactive as possible for a remote class.
- Lectures will be synchronous, interactive, and recorded for later viewing.
- The exam will have a synchronous component.
- On-line quizzes will be in synch with classes and open for an extended window (e.g. 10 hours).
- Zoom logs are the main component for assessing class participation. If you miss a class, you can make up for it by emailing a question on the class topic. For more details see below and the syllabus.

- FAQs
- Q: I don't have SFU ID. Can I use my Driver's Licence? A: Ok for the final considering the pandemic. But you should get an SFU ID.
- Q: Do I need a webcam? A: Yes SFU final exam procedures instruct the students to keep their webcams on throughout the exam, and instruct me to check Student IDs using the webcam. I checked with the other CS faculty and they use this too. A webcam is a good thing to have for other purposes too, like job interviews and on-line get-togethers.
- Q: What do you need to see on webcam? A: Basically yourself in your work environment. According to the instructions, I may also ask you to share your working screen.
- Q: Various questions of the type: did you really mean what you said in the final exam slides? A: yes. For example it really is an open-book exam but not open neighbour (no copying).
- Q: Did you record the review meeting? A: no.
