Lectures
Monday lectures as-scheduled. See the lecture notes (TBD) page for slides, a schedule, and video links.
Unless otherwise announced, Wednesday lecture slot is used as lab time / office hours.
Office Hours
During lab hours, we will be available to answer questions in the discussion forum and in in zoom chat (see SecretLinks for a link).
Steven: Wednesday 10:30 am lab time.
TAs: Megan Fowler and Ehsan Hoseinzade. Available during the Wednesday lab time, and will answer discussion forum questions, as well.
All questions about the course material, technical problems, etc should go to the discussion forum. For questions about grading or personal questions email cmpt-353-help@sfu.ca.
Grading
- Weekly exercises: 12 × 3.5% = 42%
- Project: 32%
- Quizzes: 4 × 5% = 20%
- Final quiz: 6%
Late penalty: 20% per day.
To get credit for this course, I expect you to demonstrate that you know how to use programming techniques to manipulate and analyze data. That means:
- A pass on the weighted average of the stuff where you demonstrate programming ability: exercises + project.
- A pass on the weighted average of the quizzes.
Failure to do these may result in failing the course.
