Assignments
There will be four writing assignments for this course, each requiring submission of a rough draft and a final draft. The dates below are approximate and subject to change.
Assignment 1 rough draft due January 21st (5%)
Assignment 1 final draft due February 1st (10%)
Assignment 2 rough draft due February 18th (5%)
Assignment 2 final draft due March 1st (15%)
Assignment 3 rough draft due March 11th (10%)
Assignment 3 final draft due March 22nd (15%)
Assignment 4 rough draft due April 2nd (10%)
Assignment 4 final draft due April 12th (20%)
Late Assignments
- up to 24 hours late -25% (of total)
- 24 to 48 hours late - 50%
- not accepted later - we’ll mark and give feedback, but no grade
Blogging
As part of your course participation, you will be required to post twice weekly to a blog you create. You may not post more than once a day. Posts should consist largely of text and should be at least 3 or 4 sentences long. The idea is to practice writing in proper sentences. Your blog will be worth 5% of the course.
You are also encouraged to read your fellow students' blogs.
Send an email to popowich@sfu.ca by Friday January 11th with the URL of your blog. Please make sure you send your email to me from your @sfu.ca account.

Class Participation
During some classes, I will collect in-class exercises. You should bring paper and pen/pencil to every class. Class participation will be worth 5% of your mark, and will include recognition of actual participation in class.
